A recent survey by the Pew Research Center found that more than 50% of adults in their 40s have both a parent over 65, and are raising a child under age 18. This group of adults is called the Sandwich Generation.

While you may not support your parent financially, the time, worry, and care that an aging parent may need can take a toll and have a cost. Then, add in trying to save for retirement, and you end up being spread way too thin.

Greg worked for Penn Station on the corporate side before taking a leap of faith and becoming a franchisee. We discuss the step by step process he took to complete his first acquisition of 11 Penn Station locations.

During our conversation we discuss how many locations he suggests owning to get to scale and how he decides which locations to purchase. Greg talks about the ups and the downs of running his restaurants and the systems he puts in place.

Ely also describes how he helps determine the value of a company and ways he has been able to increase the enterprise value of the business prior to the sale. Lastly, we discuss what types of buyers he has seen that have had the most success in completing a transaction.

March Madness: Non-Basketball Edition

The monthly Fed/CPI/Employment headline-market movement industrial complex was rudely shouldered aside in the last week by a much bigger and faster-moving story.

While the fallout from bank failures will take a while to unravel, and the impact on markets will likely be ongoing, the bigger picture wraps right back to the Federal Reserve.
